The 90-year-old Jammu and Kashmir-based separatist leader cited “rebellion against the leadership” by way of cadres as probably the most the explanation why, in line with PTI. “In view of the present situation, I resign from All Parties Hurriyat Conference. I have informed all the constituents of the Hurriyat about the decision,” he mentioned.
Geelani was once appointed the lifetime chairman of his faction of the All Party Hurriyat Conference in 2003. He had been a part of the political outfit given that 1990s and had helmed the separatist movement inside the erstwhile state. He was once elected as an MLA from Sopore three times and had surrender electoral politics amid the upward push of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir.
Geelani had been coping with criticism from groups in Pakistan for what they referred to as his failure to answer the government’s switch to revoke the specific status given to Jammu and Kashmir, property urged NDTV.
