Under government orders, internet service providers have been instructed to block file-sharing website WeTransfer. This comes at a time when millions of people are working from home amidst the ongoing nationwide lockdown against COVID-19. The order from India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT) did not specify a reason for blocking the website. However, the clause invoked to block the website, cites ‘interest of national security or public interest’.
