NEW DELHI: The Centre has initiated short-messaging provider (SMS) facility for taxpayers to file ‘nil’ per month pieces and products and services and merchandise tax (GST) returns. The provider can also be available from the start of next month (July 1, 2020).
The switch is aimed toward making the GST compliance procedure more uncomplicated for registered taxpayers who had to differently log into their accounts on the not unusual portal and then file their returns.
“GST taxpayers with NIL outward supplies would not be required to log on to the GST Portal and would be able to file their NIL statement in FORM GSTR-1 through just an SMS. The status confirmation of the filed statement or return application can be tracked by them on the GST Portal by logging in to their GSTIN account,” the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) mentioned in a statement.
Here’s file per month GSTR-1 by means of SMS:
* To get started up the SMS facility, send SMS to 14409 as NIL<house>R1<house>GSTIN amount<house>Tax period (in MMYYYY). For instance: NIL R1 09XXXXXXXXXXXZC 042020 (for per month return of April 2020) or NIL R1 09XXXXXXXXXXXZC 062020 (for quarterly return of April-June 2020).
* You will get a six-digit code with validity up to 30 minutes and make sure ‘nil’ statement filing by way of sending: CNF<house>R1<house> CODE to 14409.
* On a luck code validation, return can also be filed and you will download an acknowledgement amount by way of SMS.
For GSTR-3B
* File ‘nil’ return in FORM GSTR-3B and use 3B instead of R1 while sending SMS to 14409.
It will have to be well-known {{that a}} taxpayer should have a valid GSTIN at the side of authorized signatory and registered mobile amount.
If an individual after all finally ends up sending invalid code more than thrice, then the respective GSTIN and mobile amount can also be blocked for 24 hours.
GSTR-1 may also be filed per month or quarterly by way of taxpayers to expose details of their outward supplies at the side of tax criminal accountability. Whereas, GSTR-3B is filed per month and contains return summary (GST to be paid, input tax credit score ranking claimed, and plenty of others) of a taxpayer.
