NEW DELHI :
The Delhi BJP President on Monday alleged that the discoms throughout the the town have sent “huge” energy expenses to consumers for the lockdown duration, and demanded the AAP government waive off fixed charges for business connections.
Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta mentioned that instead of provisional bills, precise ones must be sent to consumers and the ability of rate in instalment be given.
The wisdom on bills received from RWAs of Delhi and complaints received from other consumers showed that power subsidy was once now not equipped to them for the three months duration of lockdown, Gupta claimed at a press briefing.
A Delhi government professional rubbished the claim, saying subsidy is being equipped as in keeping with the principles to all eligible consumers.
“Delhi has the cheapest electricity rates for domestic consumers in the county. Those consuming up to 200 units get zero bills and those consuming between 201 and 400 units, get ₹800 shaved off,” he mentioned.
Gupta, on the other hand, charged that “massive” power bills have been sent to the consumers.
“There are spherical two lakh small and big industries that have been closed all the way through the lockdown duration, then again massive electric power bills are being charged from them with fixed rate and cheap bill.
“Also there are more than 7 lakh stores and puts of labor in Delhi that have been closed in lockdown then again being made to pay massive bills,” he claimed.
Discom officials mentioned that provisional bills have been sent to consumers all the way through lockdown as in keeping with Delhi Electricity Regulatory Authority (DERC) direction, since physically metre-reading was once postponed to protect the consumers and the body of workers from the spread of coronavirus.
“As per the DERC order, Delhi power companies are raising provisional bills in absence of actual meter-reading. These provisional bills are getting regularised as and when the actual meter-reading for the provisional period is available,” one in all them mentioned.
The discoms have resumed meter-readings for business and business consumers. In case of house connections, many shoppers don’t seem to be allowing meter-readers to enter their societies, moreover many are in containment zones and most efficient such connections are being issued with provisional bills as in keeping with DERC tips, they mentioned.
The consumers can also do meter-reading of their power consumption themselves and get precise bills. They are also being given a financial incentive for doing this till June 30, they added.
