New Delhi: Congress has questioned the Centre’s continuing silence despite several media reports on Chines forces making ‘brazen transgressions’ into Ladakh and ‘occupying’ Indian soil and making constructions that have ‘cut off strategic Indian links and roads’ in the area.

Maintaining there can be no compromise with India’s security and territorial integrity, Congress spokesman Randeep Surjewala said the government must answer specific questions to political parties and the public, instead of merely stating that it will sort out issues with the Chinese through diplomatic channels.

Demanding to know the steps the Centre has taken to resolve issues of national security and territorial integrity, including strategic preparations, the party said “the Modi government must take all political parties and the country into confidence on restoring the status quo ante and protecting India’s territorial integrity”. The party also said the Cabinet decisions on MSMEs and farmers were just an extension of the disappointing economic package the Centre had recently announced.
